FAQ - Sudbury Writers' Guild PDF Print E-mail

Frequently asked questions regarding the Sudbury Writers' Guild.

1.      Do I have to be a published author to join the Sudbury Writers’ Guild?

No.  Being published is not a prerequisite to joining the guild.  In fact, it is our goal to help writers at all stages of their careers.

2. Do I have to share my writing at every meeting?

Some meetings are planned around critiquing each others work, and others involve listening to guest speakers.  When members do have the opportunity to read and receive feedback, it is on a voluntary basis.  No one is forced to share their work.

3. Where and when does the Sudbury Writers’ Guild meet?

The Sudbury Writers' Guild meets the last Thursday of every month from September to May, with a Christmas party in December and a picnic in June.  The meetings are held from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the Parkside Centre at the YMCA located at 140 Durham Street , Sudbury, Ontario. Doors to the meeting room open at 6pm to allow for networking before the meeting.

4.  Didn't the Sudbury Writers' Guild meet at the Black Cat Too?

We did up until February 2008 when the Black Cat Too closed their doors .  We'd like to thank John and Diane Rutherford for their support and kind reception they gave the guild over the years.

5.  What does my membership fees pay for?

Membership fees give you access to all meetings and special events, as well as the online newsletter. Our fees help pay for meeting space and this website.
