		<title>Breccia by Irene Golas and Ignatius Fay</title>
		<link>http://www.sudburywritersguild.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=82&amp;Itemid=2</link>
		<description>

A new book of haiku and related Japanese poetic forms by Sudbury authors Irene Golas and Ignatius Fay.

Breccia is poetry with impact! Birth and death. Love and loss. Heartache and humour. Emotional and physical landscapes. They’re all in Breccia – vivid snapshots of life and the world around us. Poems that refuse to varnish tough realities.

Breccia owes its title to the Sudbury Breccia, a rock resulting from an ancient asteroid impact. This collection – a haiku ‘breccia’ – results from the intersection of two poetic orbits.

The breccia motif extends through the group of poems about life in the mining towns around Sudbury, Ontario.
Breccia…an affirmation for haiku readers…a revelation for the uninitiated.

Breccia may be purchased on-line at lulu.com

208 pages, $17.00 US + S&amp;H + HST

		<title>Manitoulin Morsels</title>
		<link>http://www.sudburywritersguild.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=79&amp;Itemid=2</link>
		<description>
Readers enjoy Taste of Manitoulin in newly released anthology

Islanders who enjoyed the Taste of Manitoulin food festival this past June can relive the feast thanks to a newly released anthology of savoury poetry and prose. Last spring, members of the Manitoulin Writers’ Circle created new works to share during the celebration of “made on Manitoulin” products. The readings were hosted by the Gore Bay Museum during the ten day event. Now the home grown writing has been bundled into a colourful chapbook just in time for Christmas gift giving.

Manitoulin Morsels: Tasty Words from the Manitoulin Writers’ Circle features work from writers from Evansville, Spring Bay, Long Bay, Gore Bay, Ice Lake, Kagawong and Mindemoya. Photographer Jan McQuay has contributed an eye-catching hawberry motif for the cover of the publication.

	The collected works celebrate the tastes, sights, sounds, textures and aromas of Manitoulin Island and entice readers to read local and shop local. In verse, memoir and fiction, the authors explore such diverse themes as partridge season, canning time, pastry making, threshing day, morel gathering and recipe sharing. Readers are invited to immerse themselves in traditional rural pastimes and to renew their appreciation of simple delights from apples and strawberries to maple syrup and hawberry jelly.

	Copies of Manitoulin Morsels are available from Writers’ Circle members in your community including Doreen Bailey, Nicole Weppler, Pam McLaughlin, Martha Wilkins, Julia Snell, Evelyn Cardiff, Margo Little, Chuc and Linda Willson, Connie Suite, Fay Becks and Marion Seabrook. The book is also available from Vera Constantineau in Sudbury, Vincente Belenson and Ann Carson in Toronto as well as Hardman’s Photo and TV in Gore Bay.

	The Manitoulin Writers’ Circle is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the literary arts on Manitoulin. Call 705-282-1714 for more information.</description>
